This antique cast iron double crystal inkwell stand was made in the 1870s-1880s. The design reflects the Victorian-Era Eastlake Aesthetic. We think this inkwell desk set may have been made in America.
The ornate cast iron pen stand holds two inkwells made of heavy, leaded Crystal. The stand has built in lids for the inkwells which can be lowered or raised. The Crystal inkwells are intact with no cracks or damage that we could see.
The cast iron base is in great shape with some rust and has built-in pen holders. The ornate base is painted black but has mellowed with age to a warm dark brown. The cast iron base has one broken decorative piece. This piece has no function, was purely there for decorative reasons, but the price reflects the damage.
This is a very rare and collectible inkwell.
