This set includes a see-thru gift box and features one goose quill, one sheet of parchment, one bottle of ink. The natural Goose quill is dyed black and the pen has a italic cut style natural tip for writing in the Caroline style of Charlemagne. There is no steel calligraphy nib on the end of the quill, rather it is a traditionally cut quill. The ink is a 10ml bottle and the parchment is off-white in color.
In the middle ages, monks and kings wrong on parchment, (which was tanned goat skin), or vellum, (stillborn calf skin). The writing instrument they used was a quill from a goose, eagle, swan, duck or turkey. Ink consisted of mineral pigments mixed with gum, (tree sap) and water. Charlemagne was the first to institutionalize Caroline lettering, which was common to all European countries.
This gift set is perfect for a Renaissance Faire cosplayer, Shakespeare plays, historical re-enactments or anyone who is interested in putting quill to parchment.

Smaller items ship via USPS Priority mail which is 1 to 3 days delivery to the U.S. We ship larger, bulky or heavy items via FedEx Ground / Home Delivery, which is ground delivery throughout the U.S. If you need an item faster, please choose Expedited Shipping.
We ship from Northern California. For example, if you order an item over the weekend, it will ship out via USPS Priority Mail on the following Monday. If you live on the East Coast that is three days for delivery. The earliest you would receive your item is on Thursday, possibly Friday.
