J. Herbin Blue Lavender Scented Fountain Pen Ink - 1 oz bottle

J. Herbin Blue Lavender Scented Fountain Pen Ink - 1 oz bottle

$15.00

This bottle of Encres Parfumées (Perfumed/Scented Ink) works wonderfully for glass dip pens, calligraphy pens and fountain pens. This listing is for one, 1oz bottle of Lavender Scented Ink, (Encre Perfum Lavende) from French company J. Herbin.

This exquisitely charming ink is lightly scented and presented in an elegant bottle, is perfect for fountain pens since it is naturally scented and does not contain pigments. The bottle has a built in pen rest and a wide bottom so that it won't tip when you're refilling or dipping your pen.

J. Herbin scented inks are made from floral water (hydrosols) of rose, orange, lavender, apple and violets. (You can purchase a sampler set of 10ml bottles elsewhere in the Ink section of our shop.)

Known as “Les Subtiles” (The Subtle), this ink matches fragrance and color.

• Bleu (Blue)/parfum lavande, (Scent, Lavender)

While we were creating our swatches, we discovered that these inks have brilliant and vibrant colors. (This ink is professional, artist-grade.) The ink dries to a pleasing matte finish. The colors are rich and gorgeous on the page!

We'd recommend buying this ink for the color more than the scent. (And because you can put it in your fountain pen!) We used a dip calligraphy pen with a Copperplate nib and a glass pen with this ink. Both worked beautifully! It also handles nicely with a paintbrush. In general, this is high quality, all-around colored ink.

As for the scent, it is strong while you're writing/painting, but very light once it dries on the page. We were doing our sampler on Fabriano Hot-Pressed watercolor paper. (Available elsewhere in our shop!)

We'll try to describe the scent to you; the Lavender is very lightly scented and smells like a fine Lavender soap.

The hydrosols used by J. Herbin come from Grasse, France, a Provencal town long associated with the perfume industry, and famous for its floral scents. Fashioned with great care, scented inks are inspired by a tradition that began in Italy in the 19th century. J. Herbin and other manufacturers used to collect different scents from the perfume industry and add them to their inks.

This quality ink was manufactured by the French company J. Herbin. Founded in 1670, J. Herbin is the oldest manufacturer of writing ink in the world.
