This writing slope is just the thing you need to get your Jane Austen on for your calligraphy or letter writing. This antique writing box is complete and has a beautiful green felt writing slope surface. We're not exactly sure when this was made but probably the mid 1800s. There are many compartments to hold your stationery, pens and ink.
This box includes a small silver plated traveling inkwell. The inkwell is covered in black leather and is spring loaded. It opens when you press a dimple on the outside. The glass ink bottle is intact and there are no cracks. This travel inkwell did not originally come with this writing box, but it fits perfectly.
Since this is an antique, there are some condition issues with this box. First the lock is permanently locked so it doesn't close properly. We don't have the key. Also there is a wonky hinge and it doesn't exactly close as it should. There is also a crack in the middle of one of the writing slope flaps. (See photos) This still holds and you can write on it.
It comes with a mini red pencil and there's a little pencil compartment as well as an angled compartment for pen nibs? (That's a guess.)
The wood is in pretty good shape overall and the box is pretty clean. There is a little mother-of-pearl inlay on the top.
The stationery and pen are props. You get the box, the mini traveling inkwell and the tiny pencil.

Smaller items ship via USPS Priority mail which is 1 to 3 days delivery to the U.S. We ship larger, bulky or heavy items via FedEx Ground / Home Delivery, which is ground delivery throughout the U.S. If you need an item faster, please choose Expedited Shipping.
We ship from Northern California. For example, if you order an item over the weekend, it will ship out via USPS Priority Mail on the following Monday. If you live on the East Coast that is three days for delivery. The earliest you would receive your item is on Thursday, possibly Friday.
