This gorgeous folding No. 1A Autographic Kodak Junior has the original Kodak brown leather case, and the original stylus. This antique Kodak is in very good condition. It appears to have been barely used and was probably stored in its case in a closet for the last 100 years. The leather is in exceptional condition with barely any scratches. It was made circa 1915 and used 116 Film, making 2½" × 4¼ " prints.
The leather bellows fold perfectly and are completely lightfast. The shutter works and the lens is very clean with no bloom. (We even cleaned the camera obscura viewfinder.)
The Kodak Autographic camera was a specialized camera with a unique feature enabling the photographer to write onto the negative using a special stylus. The camera used Autographic film which was covered by a carbon sheet and a thin red paper. This particular camera has a spring door on the back with a stylus in an attached clip. A photographer would then open the spring door and write on the paper with the stylus. Then, the light would expose the words in the film. In the finished prints, the text would appear in white letters over a black background.
This camera has an upgraded double rapid rectilinear lens, (abbreviated to RR Lens.). This lens enabled instantaneous exposures, which was very high-tech for 1917! This camera is perfect for the budding film photographer. We feel it's very special when 100-year-old technology is used for its intended purpose.
We found a .pdf of the original manual. We can either email it to you or include a print-out with your order. Your choice, just let us know.
