This large antique Campaign Desk is just like Mr. Darcy might have used. This Writing Box was most likely made in England in the mid 1800s. We offering FREE SHIPPING with this antique!
The dark blue velvet on this Writing Slope is in fantastic condition for its age. The wood is also in very good condition and the box closes. It has two hidden compartments. One below a tray to hold pens and another small drawer hidden underneath the writing slope.
The one hinge is missing a screw, but otherwise this box opens and closes well and the each side of the writing slope opens to reveal storage beneath it.
What's amazing is that this writing slope contains the original lead crystal inkwells and a small container for water or something else. The
portable inkwells / ink bottles have copper silver-plated lids and screws. Most of the silver-plate has worn off over the years and the copper has oxidized a bit. But for something that's over 150 years old, it's in fantastic shape and these are still perfectly usable.
It also comes with some antique pencils. We're missing the key, but otherwise this is one of the finest antique writing boxes we've ever come across.
This is perfect for calligraphy and correspondence.
The inkwells and pencils are included, the stationery and pens in the photos are just props and are not included.
