India ink is a staple for drawing, calligraphy, and tattooing. It is intended for using with dip pens, glass pens and brushes. India Ink is pigment-based, not alcohol based.
India ink is a studio staple for artists who use it for for drawing and painting. Most comic book artists use India Ink for "inking" drawings. This ink is also fantastic for use with watercolor or gouache paints. It will not bleed once it has dried on the paper.
Basic India ink is composed of a variety of fine soot, known as lampblack, combined with water to form a liquid. No binder material is necessary: the carbon molecules are in colloidal suspension and form a waterproof layer after drying. J. Herbin adds shellac to bind the ink together and to create a smooth look on the paper.
Not for use with Fountain Pens!
