This Leonardt Right Oblique Dip Pen & Nib set from English Calligraphy supply manufacturer Manuscript offers five dip pen nibs and a wooden nib holder for Right Oblique (slant) calligraphy writing.

Oblique nibs offer more subtle line widths and variations than other straight edged or italic style nibs, making this set ideal for creating a variety of Calligraphy styles including Foundational, Italic, Gothic script and Uncial.

While this calligraphy set is perfect for beginners, the nibs and nib holder are of professional artist-grade quality.

This set contains:

• One (1) Wooden Pen Nib holder (stylus) stained walnut brown
• One (1) Nib Tin container - Imprinted with the traditional D. Leonardt & Co. logo from 1860.
• Five (5) Oblique bronze Leonardt Tape calligraphy pen nibs. Four different widths of a #1, #2, # 2 1/2, #3, #4.

Use with some of our calligraphy ink, found in the Ink section of our shop.

About Oblique (Italic) Calligraphy:
Italic nibs have a blunt edge, they are usually used for Gothic, Italic, and squared calligraphy styles. These nibs are not flexible like Copperplate nibs, but can more easily achieve a polished look in Uncial, Italic, Gothic and Foundational Calligraphy styles.

If you are looking to create calligraphy with hard edges that reproduces the look of an old illuminated manuscript, or an old gothic document - these are the nibs for you!

About Manuscript and Leonardt Nibs:
D. Leonardt & Co. was originally founded in Frederick Street, Birmingham by Diedrich Leonardt in 1856, in the area now known as the Jewellery Quarter. The demand for steel pens grew as the result of an increasing need for educational writing materials. Birmingham was in an excellent position to produce these as the area had good resources of iron and steel and a workforce experienced in handling high volumes of small products. (We've included an engraving of the early Leonardt Nib factory.

We can only accept returns or exchanges on art materials like this if they are returned in unused condition with packaging intact and in its original condition. (It needs to be like-new and in re-sellable condition). If there is something wrong with the item or your order is incorrect, please contact us - we'd be happy to help! Returns or Exchanges

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on opened art materials and on delicate antiques. Please see individual product descriptions for information on which items we accept returns. If there is something wrong with your order, please let us know right away! We will happily accept an exchange or refund.

Custom and personalized orders

At this time we cannot create custom or personalized orders. Most of our calligraphy sets come "as is." If customization is possible it will be noted in the listing and you will be able to choose variables via a drop-down menu. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions!

Shipping Times

We ship orders out within 1 to 3 business days after receipt of order. (Usually the next business day.) This is not delivery time! This is how long it takes us to pack the item and ship it out. You can add in the delivery time after you receive an email that your item has shipped.

Smaller items ship via USPS First Class mail which takes up to seven days to the East Coast of the USA. If your item weighs over a pound, it ships via USPS Priority Mail - which takes 1 to 3 days from the day it ships out to arrive within the USA.

We ship larger, bulky or heavy items via FedEx Ground / Home Delivery, which is ground delivery throughout the U.S. If you need an item faster, please choose Expedited Shipping.

We ship from Northern California.
