The J. Herbin 1670 Anniversary Ink in Rouge Hematite, (Red) comes in a decorative 50ml glass bottle with a wax seal imprint. This fine ink can be used with either fountain pens or calligraphy dip pens. It can also be used with glass dip pens and dip drawing pens or with a brush as an ink wash.
This ink works smoothly in fountain pens and has gold flecks scattered throughout the ink to add an extra sparkle to your writing. This ink is not waterproof and the bottle must be thoroughly shaken before use. The bottle is made of heavy glass and will not spill.
This red ink was created to celebrate the 340th anniversary of the founding of the J. Herbin Company. With a dark red color and earthy tone, Rouge Hematite ink is a reminder of the historic color of the Herbin logo and the sealing wax used by members of the French royal courts.
The sealing wax on the bottle is reminiscent of the Herbin wax used for the "grand cru" wines of France. This artist-grade red ink is perfect for writing fiery love letters and for penning passionate plays. Perfect for use by professional calligraphers and anyone who appreciates quality art materials.
The manufacturer has created a YouTube video of this fine ink ink action as a drawing ink, you can watch it here; https://youtu.be/E4bxb5UPSfU<br />
The 1670 Collection celebrates the rich life and adventures of J. Herbin, an enterprising French sailor of the mid-17th century. He made a number of voyages to India, collecting ingredients and formulas for his sealing wax and inks. He began making pen inks in his Paris workshop beginning in 1700 with the "Ink of Ships" and the "Jewel of Inks." Today, Herbin inks are widely used and internationally renown.
J. Herbin inks are made in France; the company is the oldest manufacturer of pen ink in the world. The company uses all natural dyes in their fountain pen inks. This natural composition is reflected in the neutral pH of the inks. This means that if combined with acid-free paper, the writing or drawings with this ink will last a long time and are of archival quality.
