This Campaign Lap Desk is a reproduction of an antique writing slope or desk. These were very commonly used by well appointed travelers for providing a place to keep their stationary, ink bottles, pens and nibs. This set was made by Dutch company Authentic Models. They create stunning antique reproductions and calligraphy sets. (We carry their entire calligraphy line.)
A writing slope is what is recommended for calligraphy, and this set provides a very attractive place for you to keep your calligraphy and hand-lettering supplies contained. The box is high quality distressed wood with fine bronze closures. It is very well-built and has a substantial, but smooth feel.
The desk is French finish distressed, bronze hinges, with secret hiding spots and a special place for inkwells, styluses and lots of papers. Accessories include two belle epoque styluses and bottle of black ink. This was a classic campaign accessory, and is perfect for American Civil War or Revolutionary War re-enactors. This writing box would make an opulent gift for calligraphers, artists and people who love journaling.

• Two (2) turned wood styluses - one black and one walnut stained
• Eleven (11) steel dip pen nibs in an antique reproduction box - 2 Copperplate Crown nibs, 2 Spencerian/Copperplate nibs, 3 Mapping and Drawing nibs, 2 fine Ornamental nibs, and 2 Round Monoline nibs
• One (1) large bottle of Black Ink

Because of its size, we ship this item via FedEx Ground/Home Delivery. We ship from Northern California and we usually ship 1 to 2 business days after receipt of an order. This may take 7 days for delivery to the East Coast of the US.
We can only accept returns or exchanges on art materials like this if they are returned to us 100% free of damage and in unused condition. Ink bottles cannot have been opened and nibs, and pen styluses cannot be used. If there is something wrong with the item or your order is incorrect, please contact us - we'd be happy to help! Smaller items ship via USPS Priority mail which is 1 to 3 days delivery to the U.S. We ship larger, bulky or heavy items via FedEx Ground / Home Delivery, which is ground delivery throughout the U.S. If you need an item faster, please choose Expedited Shipping.
We ship from Northern California. For example, if you order an item over the weekend, it will ship out via USPS Priority Mail on the following Monday. If you live on the East Coast that is three days for delivery. The earliest you would receive your item is on Thursday, possibly Friday.
