J. Herbin's Authentic Ink (Encre Authentique), is also known as “Lawyers’ Ink.” This intense black ink was used by French notaries to write official acts. It contains Campeche wood tannin for exceptional preservation. Lettering done with this ink is said to be legible for 300 years.
The company that makes this ink should know if their ink lasts 300 years, they were established in 1670. This exceptional calligraphy and dip pen ink was formulated by French ink manufacturer, J. Herbin and is made in France.

This J. Herbin ink is known for its exceptional qualities. They were the ink supplier for the court of King Louis XIV (The Sun King) of France. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Les Miserables" author Victor Hugo penned his masterpieces with this ink.
This ink is water-based and is intended for use with dip pens, reed pens, and brushes.

Smaller items ship via USPS Priority mail which is 1 to 3 days delivery to the U.S. We ship larger, bulky or heavy items via FedEx Ground / Home Delivery, which is ground delivery throughout the U.S. If you need an item faster, please choose Expedited Shipping.
We ship from Northern California. For example, if you order an item over the weekend, it will ship out via USPS Priority Mail on the following Monday. If you live on the East Coast that is three days for delivery. The earliest you would receive your item is on Thursday, possibly Friday.
